The Library is doing its own version of “spring cleaning” and have donated even more boxes of books to A.L.I.P. for Trot and Spot, the book busmobiles that come to the Library’s parking lot so that kids up through high school can borrow books.
If you are or plan on doing some spring cleaning the Library accepts donations of magazines, books, dvds, office and craft supplies with the understanding that if we can’t use them we will pass them on, put them in our book sale, or give them away on our free rack.

It was all about the butterflies, community outreach, and family fun as the Jamerson Library fluttered over to James River State Park on Saturday, April 19th to set up as a guest vendor. The Library Director and an employee passed out Summer Reading and Library promotionals, set up a butterfly photo booth, and passed out free butterfly craft projects and bubbles! The Library showed guests how to use old newspaper as seed starter pots and plant sunflower seeds to spread happiness and promote pollinators like butterflies! We want to thank James River State Park for inviting us to join in on all the fun. Our next adventure with James River State Park will be on Saturday, May 17th for the Kids to Parks Day Fair from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at James River. On Friday, May 9th we will host our annual Jamerson Library Spring Plant Swap! Got some plants that need a new home? Come see us! Want to exchange a plant or two for some new friends? Come see us! Have something plant related like pots, seeds, bareroots or other items and don’t know what to do with them? Come see us! You will find us from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm in our community room with plants to swap out in a fair or generous exchange for plants and other plant-related items. We just have a few simple rules to follow: no dead plants, plants must be free of disease and infestations, plants should be easy to transport, you must leave plants to take plants, and you are responsible for bringing in a tote or box to take plants away.

Also on May 9th we will launch our very own Seed Library! If you would like to donate seeds/bulbs/bareroots so that the public can share in the joys of gardening please feel free to drop them off during normal business hours. Native and decorative flowers, herbs, vegetables, trees and more are welcome! We ask that you please clearly label what seeds/bulbs/bareroots you are donating, and the year they were harvested, if known.
