Library scandal, Kisses, and Think Beyond the Can

It’s a scandal! The Library staff is passing out kisses! Hershey’s kisses, that is! When you come up to the circulation desk, just be sure to ask for a “kiss” when you checkout! One per person, per visit, while supplies last.

For the Wednesday, February 4th’s Story and Craft Time, Library Fairy MaKayla read the book “I’ll Love You Always” by Mark Sperring, a beautiful rhyming story about how long a parent’s love lasts forever! The kids enjoyed making Valentine’s Day booklets using crayons, markers, paper bags, and other embellishments, while having juice and snacks. Our next Story and Craft Time will be on Wednesday, February 11th, starting at 11:00 am and 12:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend with the understanding that this program is intended for preschool patrons.

Also, on Wednesday, the Library hosted a representative from Legal Aid for a public educational forum on renter’s rights, including a projected presentation. Legal Aid will return to the Library on Wednesday, March 2nd, starting at 2:00 pm in our community room featuring the theme “Career Advice”.

Wednesday was a busy day as the Library also hosted After School Crafts with MaKayla and Girls Who Code. Both events are for tweens and teens to explore their creative side through crafts, confidence building, and coding.

Due to the weather, Miss American Star Achievement’s pet food drive at the Library has been extended to Friday, February 13th.  Penelope and Patrick (aka the double P’s), are teaming up with the ladies from Miss American Star Achievement for a pet food drive at the Library. This community service outreach will benefit a Virginia animal shelter. Miss American Star Achievement is an achievement-based group whose motto is, “it’s less about the dress and more about the girl,” with a focus on volunteering, community outreach, and being goodwill ambassadors for much-needed causes. You can drop off pet food and other pet-related items in the donation box near the circulation desk.

In observation of Presidents’ Day, the Library will be closed on Monday, February 16th. We will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, February 17th, starting at 9:30 am. The book drop, located at the back of the building, will remain open.
