Annual Spring Plant Swap

There will be plants to swap in a fair or generous exchange for plants and other plant-related items. We just have a few simple rules to follow: no dead plants, plants must be free of disease and infestations, plants should be easy to transport, you must leave plants to take plants, and you are responsible for bringing in a tote or box to take plants away.

Retro Jamerson Library Movie Night

Family movie night in our community room featuring a film about a young swashbuckler who rescues the beautiful titled heroine from her sinister husband-to-be in a fun and fetching fairy tale for the whole family. This movie is rated PG, and refreshments will be served.

Jamerson Library’s Retro After School Movie

Jamerson Library’s Retro After School Movie in the community room. A group of young misfits discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure. This movie is rated PG, free refreshments will be served.

The J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library welcomes teen volunteers in our library to assist with a variety of tasks. Library volunteers are needed to help shelve library materials, assist in maintaining an attractive and pleasant atmosphere in the library, help prepare materials for circulation and assist with children’s programming through setup and clean up. Please read the Volunteer Policy to know the full range of things volunteers may do in the library.

Because libraries do work with a wide variety of people, including vulnerable populations, the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library does have an application process that includes an interview, reference checks and training process. Teenagers are required to have an approval signature from a parent or guardian.

We offer a great collection for you to explore and find your next great read, Virginia Piedmont's Library 2 Go. Get the Libby app for iOS and Android devices.

Explora -- Explore hundreds of topics in thousands of magazines, encyclopedias, journals, and videos. EBSCO Explora is a great resource to find articles and information for school reports, projects, and more. Provided by the Library of VA.

Homework HelpNow -- Connect LIVE with a certified tutor, seven days a week between 2 and 11 pm, for assistance with assignments and research, including math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and more! Submit your papers to a tutor in the Writing Lab for constructive feedback or take practice exams and create your own flashcards to prepare for tests. Tutoring is available in English and Spanish.

Transparent Language -- Transparent Language Online offers in-depth, self-paced classes that focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking over +140 languages. Courses include various Indigenous languages, ASL, and ESL/ELL materials in 34 languages. Provided by the Library of VA.
