There is good news and bad news! First, for the bad news, The Times Virginian, our local newspaper is no longer in business. The good news? You can still get a copy of “As The Page Turns” on our website. For over 25 years an employee has been writing this article to help spread the word about library-related programs, events, news, updates and more. So be sure to check us out at www.jrjml.org to continue reading “As The Page Turns.
Due to the winter weather and multiple extended power outages the Library closed its doors for several days. We ask our patrons to follow us on Facebook for the latest updates including inclement weather and holiday hours, programs, events, trivia, recipes, interesting links and more. Give us a like and a follow at: https://www.facebook.com/JamersonMemorialLibrary, don’t forget that we also have a social media presence on Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and BlueSky.
It is not to late to take a chance on our counting kisses guessing contest. February is the month of Love! Let us count the ways we love our patrons…… with kisses by entering a guess in our “Monsters Need Love Too” counting contest. Guess the number of Kisses in the jar, without going over to win! In case of a tie we will draw for the winner, which we will announce on Friday, February 28th. This counting contest is open to everyone, it is one guess per patron per visit.
1 fish, 2 fish, we have too many fish! Due to a mated pair of Bristlenose plecos the Library currently has babies! If you would like a baby pleco please contact Finn by calling him to make arrangements for one. You must provide your own container to bring your new baby home, preferably a clean glass one. It is recommended that your tank be established and a minimum of 29 gallons. Please note that this species of Pleco can reach 5 – 6 inches in length.
The Jamerson Library will be participating in the nation-wide Junior Library Guild’s bookmark contest for school-aged students elementary through high school. Official entry forms can be picked up at the Library, and all entries must be inspired by a Junior Library Guild book. Submissions must be turned into the Library no later than closing on Thursday, March 6th, one entry per student only. The Junior Library Guild will contact libraries in April to announce the winning submissions. This Library carries lots of Junior Library Guild books, and a staff member will be happy to help you select one.
